NSW schools offer special religious education and special education in ethics. Approved providers deliver these, where available.
Write to the school if you wish to withdraw your child from special religious education, sometimes known as scripture. Special education in ethics is an option for your primary-age child if you withdraw them from special religious education. For more information, visit Religion and ethics.
- Christian Special Religious Education (SRE) is offered to Goulburn High School in a combined Goulburn churches arrangement and is overseen by the Southern Tablelands Christian Education Committee. The Christian SRE teacher is authorised by, and the Christian SRE curriculum approved by, the Anglican Diocese of Canberra and Goulburn.
- Christian SRE classes and seminars are offered to year 7 and 8 students at Goulburn High School for a total of 5 hours each term. These involve open discussion and interactive learning based on the authorised curriculum, Think Faith. The goal of these classes is to provide students with opportunities to explore the bigger questions of life and gain a basic understanding of Christian beliefs and study contemporary issues related to the Christian faith. Students will also develop the critical literacy skills required to make informed decisions about the Christian faith for themselves.

- Year 7 and 8 students who do not attend Christian Special Religious Education will be provided with supervised alternative meaningful opportunities such as reading, private study or completing homework.
- Student participation is nominated by parents / carers at enrolment. Please contact the school if you wish to opt-in, or to withdraw your child from special religious education. For more information, visit Religion and ethics.
