This course is a 200 hour course; meaning that students will study this course in Years 9 & 10.
Cultural Understanding aims to teach students to know and understand the significance of culture in their lives and to appreciate the diverse global society in which they live. Cultural Understanding will enable students to develop skills and values to see their own and other cultures from a range of perspectives.
Through the Cultural Understanding course, students will learn about the ideas, beliefs and practices across a wide range of cultures. There is an emphasis on Asia and the Pacific due to Australia's geographical proximity to Asia and the Pacific, the growth in China and India and Australia's growing trade, defence and humanitarian links.

As a part of the Cultural Understanding course, students will undertake and range of practical activities, participate in excursions and have the option of being involved in the school's Korean cultural exchange program.
