This course is studied by all Year 8 students at Goulburn High School.
Students will engage ideas, beliefs and practices across a wide range of cultures with an emphasis on those from Asia and Africa. The increasing percentage of Australians with Asian and African backgrounds lends itself to this course of study. Through this course of study, student will be able to conceptualise and perceive interrelationships between themselves and local, national and global communities. They have the opportunities to value difference, inclusion and to respect the rights of others.
The aim of Cultural Studies is for students to know and understand the significance of culture in their own lives, appreciate the culturally diverse yet interconnected world in which they live and to develop skills and values to view cultures including their own from different perspectives.
