TEXTILES TECHNOLOGY

Textiles Technology is a practical and theoretical study of textiles materials and the ways in which they may be used.

Students will complete four units of work, each developed around a specific project which could include garment and costume design & construction, and furnishings such as quilts and cushions, and soft toys.  Students will be required to document the development of their projects, from design ideas to finished product.

A study of Textiles Technology provides students with broad knowledge of the properties, performance and uses of textiles in which fabrics, colouration, yarns and fibres are explored.  Students will also explore the historical and cultural uses of textiles, and contemporary textiles designers, and use them as sources of inspiration for their textile designs.

Ø  Students must wear leather enclosed footwear at all times in this subject.
Fees:A subject charge of $30 per year applies. (Covers basic project costs). Students will also need to purchase fabrics and other materials based upon individual projects
