ESL (English as a Second Language) caters to the needs of students whose first language is not English. Goulburn High School has a number of refugee and migrant students who do not have English as their first language. The primary focus of ESL is to teach cultural and academic knowledge in a safe and supportive environment. This is done through teaching literacy and numeracy by focusing on the following language modes:
