Music is a compulsory course for all students in Year 7 and 8.
The Music (Mandatory) course provides students an opportunity to experience a variety of musical styles. Students in Year 7 & 8 will study a variety of topics including What is Music ?, Instruments of the Orchestra, Music for Theatre, Film Music and Rock Music. Throughout the mandatory course students in Year 7 and 8 are provided the opportunity, and actively encouraged to learn keyboard and guitar.
Students will develop knowledge, understanding and skills in the concepts of music through:
* performing as a means of self-expression, interpreting musical symbols and developing solo and/or ensemble techniques
* composing as a means of self-expression, musical creation and problem solving
* listening as a means of extending aural awareness and communicating ideas about music in social, cultural and historical contexts.
