Goulburn High School has introduced new Digital Device Policy which will be effective Day 1, Term 1, 2021:
Requirements for all students
Phones are switched off and away during all class time
No headphones or similar are to be worn or in sight during all class time
Smart watches can be worn, however must be used appropriately
Phones are only permitted during breaks if they are used appropriately
Consequences will follow for student/s who use phones or devices in class, inappropriately such as anti-social behaviour, inappropriate use of social media, recording and or photography at school and other unacceptable behaviour as determined by the principal
Protocol of Consequences
Student/s will be sent to the deputy principals for infractions of the policy with a Purple Slip and the incident is logged on Compass. The incident will be dealt in accordance with the School’s Discipline Policy which may include the following:
Orange Card Monitoring and/or detention
Red Card Monitoring and/or caution of suspension
Pouching of device (stay with student unlocked at end of day)
Device confiscation and collection by parent/guardian
The policy will be reviewed at the end of Term 1, 2021 and could result in a complete ban of all devices in all spaces and times if the above is unsuccessful in intentions.
