Goulburn High welcomed its new Deputy Principal Mr Justin Yee this week.
Mr Yee moved to Goulburn High after more than 14 years teaching at Ambarvale High School in Campbelltown.
“I am the product of amazing teachers. I’m very grateful for what they’ve done to help me achieve things I didn’t realise I could achieve,” he said.
“I continue to teach to support young people to achieve…and now I do what I do because I love working with staff to help young people achieve their unknown potential.”
Starting out as a PDHPE teacher, Mr Yee has worked in Bathurst, Orange and Campbelltown before coming to Goulburn High.
He has been a head teacher PDHPE and head teacher of Teaching and Learning.
For the past 10 months he has worked with the NSW Department of Education’s innovation systems design directorate on the Uppley project.
And while the way in which teachers educate their students may change with advances in technology, there is one aspect of teaching Mr Yee believes will remain a constant.
“Connection with young people is the most important thing. There is nothing that’s going to be able to replace the connections teachers can make with students.”
